Did nice go out with the Macarena?

So today i was sitting out in the hall, exposed to all the going on at the old edina high when two girls walked past me. I wasn't doing anything out of the ordinary, merely retaking a psychology test i had missed. I didn't look particularly fetching that day, i was wearing a borrowed sweatshirt and about 5 hours worth of jet lag. Anyways the girls walk past me, carrying on their own conversation when the just stop, stop taking stop everything and stare. I figured i must have a bugger or something, or they thought i was someone else because these girls and i were, to put it generously, merely acquaintances. However after this silent pause was over and they went on their way, the girls proceeded to laugh hysterically...at me. What had i done? Did i really look that bad? I realize the red in my sweatshirt and sweatpants didn't exactly coordinate but hey i didn't flip them the bird or anything. I even smiled politely at them as they stared. Were these girls just mean? Did being polite go out of style like UGGs and polygamy? What a world we live in. Or maybe that's just high school.
